A brief history of Ling Tung University¡]Taichung, Taiwan¡^

Ling Tung University was found in 1964, by former House of Representative of ROC, Dr. Tsai Ya-Ping, and his wife Dr. Lee Min. The university was originally named as “Ling Tung College of Accounting,” with “Learn to Use, Sincere to Others” as motto. On August, 1999, the university had been promoted to “Ling Tung College,” and on August, 2005, Ling Tung College had been promoted again to today’s “Ling Tung University.” In addition, On August, 1997, the university was authorized to establish the College of Extension Education to offer education to post-baccalaureate students.

Ling Tung University was the first ever to be promoted to management-based private vocational university. Currently LTU has five colleges: management, economic and finance, information, design, and fashion. For graduate institutions, there are 14 programs today: international business, business administration (MBA), executive master of business administration (EMBA), marketing and logistics, tourism management, finance, finance law, tax and accounting system, visual communication design, digital media design, fashion design, product design, applied information technology, and information network. For undergraduate programs, there are 16: business administration, international business, applied foreign language, marketing and logistics, tourism, finance, accounting information, information management, information technology, and information network, digital media design, visual communication design, creative product design, fashion design, apparel design, and fashion management. The College of Fashion was established in 2016 that includes fashion design, apparel design, and fashion management. Besides, in order to fulfill societal demands, the university also offer night programs and weekend courses. The College of Extension now offers business administration, marketing and logistics, and tourism.

Today, there are 584 teaching faculties (4 foreign teachers and 17 professional instructors), 172 administrative staff, 7 military instructors, and 2 part-time workers in this university. For students, there are total 10,175 in LTU: 7,475 in regular program, 2,245 in night program, 401 in extension education, and 54 in credential program.

LTU is convenient geographically. It locates between the boarders of Changhua, Nantou, and Taichung. It is also very close to Wangtien, Nantun, and Longjin interchanges of the Sun-Yat Sen Memorial Freeway (Freeway 1), Taichung-Changhua Expressway (Expressway 74), Taichung High Speed Rail station, Taichung Harbor, and Ching Chuan Kang International Airport. Moreover, LTU is nearby economic zones such as Taichung Science Park, Taichung Industrial Park, Fine Mechanics Industrial Zone, Changhua Industrial Park, Wurih Financial Centers, Shalu Aerospace Center, and various economic development areas. Most importantly, there are abundant restaurants, shops, and markets around the campus, which sufficiently supply the needs of the teachers and students.

LTU currently has two campuses: Chun-an and Bao-wen. The land area of Chun-an campus occupies around 56,422.53 m2, with ten buildings (Hsien Ting Hall, Shen Yi Hall, Hou Te Hall, Lee Min Hall, Ya Ping Hall, Chang Yun Hall, Administration Building, the Second Instructional Hall, the Third Instructional Hall, and Library) which consist the total floor area of 86,042.24 m2. The land are of Bao-wen campus occupies around 143,731.24 m2, with two buildings which consist 25,085.39 m2 of floor are. Two campuses are close to each other – only 400 m of distance. Wifi is well operated in these two campuses, which offers convenient network services.
